August 25, 2014 ·

134233 (1)32421-1And so it continues…I just think they’re so cute ok!? Today I have for you: cupcake picks!

    Materials

  • Animal cookie clipart //
  • Sucker sticks, skewers, or toothpicks //
  • Hot glue //
  • Glue stick //
  • Scissors //

Grab my animal cookie clipart images to cut out here:

183249Now apply some hot glue to the tip of your picks and stick it to the backside of one of the animals. Right in the middle but not to far up. To make my sucker sticks a little more cute and customized, I followed this tutorial.

287469-1Then slather glue onto that backside and press an opposite facing same animal to it.

0355128-1-1183749Use them to decorate cupcakes or any treats!

Animal cookie craft numero dos!
I am in. love. with these little toys okay?

PSX_20140708_215957

You could use them for so many things but I decided to attach them to paper straws and insert in a cake. Because, cake!

PSX_20140708_214700

    Materials

  • Plastic animal toys //
  • Spray paint and/or acrylics //
  • Toothpicks //
  • Optional: Paper Straws, Hot Glue Gun

I chose to use spray paint for my toys but you could just paint them with acrylics. {If you use all non-toxic paints, they can really remain toys for your little ones!}

I did a couple of layers of primer then sprayed half white and half pink.

Next, apply polka dots! I used this little doo-hickey of paints and got all the colors I needed except the blue. Its more of a aqua, sky blue and I had to use a different acrylic for that.

I used toothpicks to paint the dots and just applied one color to all the toys at a time.

Animal cookie sprinkles come in the following colors: red, orange, yellow, green, sky blue, purple, pink and white.

Now try to resist the temptation to eat them {but feel free to go buy some real animal cookies like right now.}

Attach to paper straws using hot glue if you so desire.

Even if they’re not going in a cake, they look super cute on the straws right!?

But, everything looks at least slightly better when it comes with cake underneath it!

Animal Cookie Piñata

I cannot get over how cute I think Mother’s animal cookies are! I have some serious plans featuring these sweet little treats and first off is this bright and happy pinata!animalcookie1

Supplies:
Tissue paper in the following colors: bright pink, white, yellow, orange, blue, purple and green
Cardboard
Scissors
Tape
String
X-acto knife or scissors
Glue stick
Lion Template
Pinata fillings (candy and small toys)

First download the template here:

Print it out, cut around the lines and set it out on your cardboard, matching the lines up to form your lion.

Trace around it then, using your X-acto knife or scissors, cut your lion out.

2014-06-18 18.37.34

Now trace this onto another piece of cardboard and cut that out. Also cut out a bunch of strips from the cardboard. Mine are about 2.5 inches wide.

2014-06-19 11.16.06

Begin taping these to one of your sides, bending it to fit around the curves.

2014-06-19 11.26.03

Either fill it with your goodies once you’ve finished one side:

Or leave a flap that you can tuck under and pull out when you’re ready to fill it:

Now cut your fringe, I did mine pretty thickly to achieve the look I wanted.

2014-06-19 13.24.55

Using a glue stick, attach fringe to cardboard. Start on the edges, trimming to fit when you’re done then moving on to the front.

Now trim around the edges and do the other side.

2014-06-21 14.42.40

Cut circles from all your colors of tissue paper.

paper

Place these where you’d like them to go and then affix with glue.

I attached a string by poking a hole through the cardboard and threading bakers twine through it.animalcookie1
