Last year I saw the funniest video of a mom explaining that you can all forego the kitchen appliances, clothing items, and gardening supplies; all we moms really want is just a day to be alone and relax! In fact, the only Mother’s Day gift I’ve ever asked for was to sleep in.
Since a day off is nearly impossible to come by as a mom, we thought a gift guide made up items that will help all the moms in your life achieve at least a few moments of relaxation was called for! We’ve got 15 soothing items for any lady on your list this summer, featuring this happy and sweet DIY crochet and knitting book SereKNITy: Peaceful Projects to Soothe and Inspire.
I can’t tell you enough how much I love the premise of this book! A lot of times, all the DIY inspiration and how-tos out there can feel overwhelming. But, instead of a focus on the pinterest-perfect, this book is all about the peaceful time spent making the project. A way to slow down and recharge with uncomplicated, practical patterns for the loveliest handmade items.
Besides making you feel at-ease with the projects within, this book also features pretty photography, and lovely illustrations. Plus, the projects are things you actually want to make, like cute boot cuffs and fluffy eye pillows.
Since both my mom and my mother-in-law crochet and knit, I immediately thought this book would make a great gift for either of them. While I definitely think this book by itself is more than a great present, I’m also the kind of person who likes to put things together with complimenting items, in baskets if I can! So I started brainstorming a bunch of other pretty and relaxing items to go with it. I decided to share them all with you in case you’re also looking for soothing gifts for mom!
And, since this guide is cutting it a little close (in case you’ve been away from the calendar recently–Mother’s day is in 6 days), this guide is also perfect for all the women in your life! We all do so much (often too much) and as such could all use some calm and quiet. Looking for birthday presents? Bridesmaid gifts? Shower or just because presents? We got ya covered. And lets not forget how many teachers out there could use one of these items as a last day of school present!

A box of the most delicate and delicious macarons. These ones are local to Utah but you can search Etsy for some more great options, or you can even snag some decent frozen varieties at most grocery stores and Costco.
Bath bombs are….well the BOMB! I am a huge fan of Lush (if my house could just always smell like them, I’d die happy) but there are also tons of great options on Etsy, local farmers markets, and even budget options at most big box stores.
This personal tea set, with a mini kettle that fits nicely within a cup, is the cutest little thing and tea is practically the definition of soothing.
And for that pot of tea, a raw crystal infuser. Makes me feel more relaxed just looking at these beauties.
A soft blanket for cuddling up is kind of a necessity.
Every day, my meditation app, Calm, reminds me that its time to meditate. And I look briefly at it, sigh, and get back to work or my babies. I seriously wish I had the time to set aside for meditation, its my goal this year! But, before my Otto came, I did take the time for a little while to meditate and I LOVED the calm app. I felt very lost and where to even begin on mediation and they walk you right through it, teaching and relaxing. A subscription would be a great gift.
You literally can’t fill a bathroom with too many candles when having a relaxing bath. Its scientifically impossible.
Who doesn’t relax at the smell of lavender? Or maybe you’re more of a grapefruit or peppermint gal. Whichever essential oil you love, you can smell it and reap its benefits all the time with an oil diffusing necklace. I love this minimal triangle option but there are tons of available styles all over the web!
Floral smelling body polish? Sounds super soothing to me!
Aaah reading. I sort of feel like reading is the ultimate relaxing luxury–I basically only do it on vacation (when my kids aren’t there) so its the sort of activity I dream about. Malissa recommended one of her currents reads- Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugar for an easy, fun read all women will enjoy.
You can’t have a truly relaxing atmosphere without some off-lighting right? And these delicate, twinkling fairy lights are what my ultimate soothing room would be made up of!
Cuddling up in jammies is a MUST when relaxation is the goal and this sweet and comfy pajama set is perfect for mommas of all ages (and basically every woman ever).
The beach is OBVIOUSLY the most soothing place on earth. Swimming pools and hot tubs come in at a close second and these towels are so effing cute, your mom or girlfriends will want to immediately go to whichever is closest. Throw in some crochet needles and Sereknity and thats a perfect day my friends!
Maybe not the most unique idea, but every time I sit down for a pedicure, I think to myself man, I am SO glad I did this and then I close my eyes and enjoy. Get your momma a pedi-luxury date and she will definitely thank you! Check yelp for suggestions, or groupon for deals!
Subscription boxes are seriously my favorite trend ever. Also my favorite thing ever–coffee. Some days its the special treat that gets me through without binging on something bad! Sitting down with a warm cup of anything and just taking a moment, especially if it can be outside on a sunny morning=the best. Couple that with SereKNITy and a relaxing, crafty project=perfection. I love this coffee subscription box from Bean Box. Or for non-coffee drinkers, how about a delicious assortment of teas? Or heck, even a box of hot cocoa would be welcome by literally every woman I’ve ever known.
And finally, whats relaxation without something comfy on your (newly pedicured) feet?! I adore these Ankit kitty slippers and I have a pair of their slippers, it’s like walking on a cloud I tell ya! Get them on your lady friends feet!
I hope some of these ideas inspire you! I know you have so many women in your life who deserve to be fully relaxed, even just for a day. What will you give them to make sure they get that?
