popper3

A quick little craft that’ll bring tons of joy and fun to your Easter get-together this year!

You’ll need:
Orange paper, regular weight or card stock. Try some cute prints!
Green tissue paper
Party poppers
Glue or tape
Scissors
Pencil

First download and print this cone template:

Cut out and trace onto orange paper, you should be able to get 4 on an 8.5″ x 11″ paper and 6 on a 12″ x 12″.

trace

Roll your paper into a cone just to get the shape right before adding glue.

roll

Apply whatever glue you’d like to one edge. For card stock I’d recommend glue dots, hot glue or even some cute washi tape!

We’ll be filling these cones with these party poppers:

popper

You can find them at any party supply or large retailer.

Remove the little foil holding the string up:

place in the middle of your paper cone

and roll it up around it, making sure the string comes out the bottom.

washi tape

Push the edges of the popper down so it fits snugly in the cone.

snug

Take green tissue paper, fold it in half and cut out some squares, about four inches by four inches

Scrunch up the bottom of the tissue paper,

and insert it into your cone around the popper.

stuffing

The tissue paper will stick in there without glue but I’d recommend using just a touch

stuffed

And you’re done! Just hold the carrot in one hand, pull the string with the other and watch confetti fly!!

Fun little noise-making, confetti shooter for your celebrations! Who doesn’t want that!?

90's Inspired Valentines, free printable Salt N Pepa "Push It" party popper non-candy Valentines ajoyfulriot.com @ajoyfulriot

I cannot believe Valentine’s Day is already this week, gah! How do all these holidays always come up so fast?!

We don’t go very overboard celebrating V Day at my house so I’m not stressed about it at all I’m just kind of sad because I had so many more of these 90’s lyric inspired Valentine ideas I wanted to share with you! Now there isn’t enough time to get them all in so I guess maybe next year?? Gosh, I hope the 90’s are still cool in 2017…

90's Inspired Valentines, free printable Salt N Pepa "Push It" party popper non-candy Valentines ajoyfulriot.com @ajoyfulriot

Even if they’re not, I couldn’t let this year pass without paying Valentine tribute to one of my very very fave 90’s hits, “Push It” by Salt N’ Pepa. This tune will never get old! It’s universal I tell ya! And even if it’s not, you know what is? Party poppers! EVERYBODY loves party poppers. We’ve been trying to include lots of non-candy Valentine ideas this year and this is probably my favorite just because it involves confetti! (psst…we did confetti popper valentines last year too!)

If, for some unimaginable reason, party poppers aren’t your thing (ok, I understand if a teacher may not appreciate these being given out in class…) then there are so many other ideas you could do! Baby bottle pops would be perfect, Hersey’s kisses, candy or wax lips, lip stickers, suckers (pops!), ETC!

So click through to get the free printable available at the end of the post!

Minimal DIY Gender Reveal Nesting Dolls

January 30, 2016 ·

DIY gender reveal nesting dolls. Minimal decor for your parties and house via ajoyfulriot.com @ajoyfulriot

If you don’t know yet how I feel about gender reveal parties, the answer is AWESOME! Any excuse to throw a party is GREAT by us and I think gender reveals are the funnest little trend that has popped up in the last few years. Getting together with your loved ones, taking guesses, making lots of girl and boy themed decorations! I love it all! And I especially love the actual big reveal!! There are so many fun ways I’ve seen to make the announcement, confetti poppers, cake, silly string, but my new favorite has definitely got to be this DIY nesting doll idea.

Traditional Russian matryoshka dolls get a minimal coat of paint and the very last little one is blue or pink, depending on your expected little one’s gender! Don’t you always feel like when you’re opening nesting dolls, “When on earth is the last one going to come?! They can’t get any smaller!” ? Can you just image that anticipation building up more and more as all your loved ones get excited to see what new little babe they can welcome into the world?!

I just love the thought so much. PLUS it’s not messy like all of the ideas I just mentioned at the beginning of this post! AND (this just keeps getting better huh? :D ) you can then use the dolls for decor at the party, your baby shower and/or in your new baby’s room! I’ve just added these little guy’s to Stella’s room decor and I love them so much! I think I’m also going to get a bare set for my room cus I just love the unfinished wood look so much!

Otto’s ONEderful Halloween Carnival Birthday Party

October 6, 2018 ·

This ONEderful halloween carnival birthday party was to celebrate my baby boy turning one and is full of colorful, whimsical, and spooky details!

Now that it’s been almost a whole year, I can share Ottos halloween carnival birthday party! I know I could have shared earlier, but I wanted it to be at a time of year that made sense, so I’ve held onto it for all this time. And, looking at these again after a year was so enjoyable! Planning a halloween carnival birthday party was so much fun and I love how the colorful, and a little bit spooky, decorations turned out.

One thing I wish I could remember better is to take photos of my invitations at the party! I love when I do that, because they fit right in amongst the decor that I picked out to match them. But the invite for this halloween carnival birthday party is available right here and I used the same motif through the rest of the party printables. Since it was a carnival theme, I went with the phrase “Otto is ONEderful!” throughout it because it felt like the kind of phrase you’d see on a flyer for a circus or something, and of course I loved the pun!

My son’s birthday is Oct 17th and honestly, I never thought I’d do the whole Halloween-themed thing for him. But I absolutely LOVE Halloween and my husband and I were planning a Halloween party with our friends for that evening. So, I decided using Halloween decorations for Otto’s beforehand would be fun and versatile to both parties. There was silly puns, potion making, games, a petting zoo, and costumes! Check out all the silly, spooky fun by clicking ‘read more’!
