One of (if not the) best parts of living in DC is that so many awesome places are just a few hours away, making for perfect weekend getaways.
Over the past month we took advantage of this and went to Philadelphia one weekend and NYC with our good friends Peter and Courtney the next! Although both trips were quick and not our first outing to either city, we got to do some fun new things and I thought I’d share some pics of our time there.
So despite our smiles, it was freezing! Somehow, we survived despite all of the walking around that always happens in New York.
We stopped in Chinatown of course and tried some Rambutan- taking Greg and I back to the summer we lived in Taiwan.
Hanging out at Eately – so yummy!
I finally made it to Brooklyn Flea and it was everything that I hoped it would be: fun vintage pieces, delicious donuts, awesome prints, fun baby clothing, and homemade furniture.
City view from the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which is fantastic and I highly recommend stopping by if you are ever in Philly.
And don’t worry, we made it to Philadelphia’s Chinatown as well. Greg needs his steamed buns and bubble tea :).
And I need my donuts! These are from Beiler’s Bakery in Reading Market Terminal- a truly wonderful market full of amazing food.
My friend Melanie clued me into the fact that Philadelphia is known for having great vintage and thrift stores, so of course I had to stop at a few.
And finally we did the #1 (or maybe #2 if you are an American history buff because obviously the historical sites- ahem the Liberty Bell- are a must) thing you do in Philadelphia: had some philly cheesesteaks!
