Ok, ok, I know Valentine’s Day is over. And I even think there is an argument to be made about it being a pretty made up, commercial holiday anyway. In fact, I’m okay with people hating Valentine’s. After all, I pretty much hate Thanksgiving. So un-American. But! I do love the idea behind being thankful and I think it’s great to have a day that is all about that. Just like I think it’s great to have a day to think about the people we love most or maybe to find something to love about more people. So I want to give Vday one more nod before we wave it off till 2016.
This year’s love day inspired me. I had already set a New Years goal to write more letters because I have always loved cards and I really do find myself thinking about people, sometimes randomly, often and I think it’d be great if they knew that sometimes ya know? But I really wasn’t doing that well on the letter writing a month and half into this year until Valentine’s Day encouraged me to define that goal a little deeper and it became something more special to me.
I want to approach every note I write from an angle of love. While I think this was already the premise of the goal, actually defining it like this made it so much more exciting. I am not just going to write notes, I’m going to write love letters. Love letters to the people closest to me and even people not that close to me, just whoever pops into my head that night.
365 love letters. That’s my goal. By Valentine’s day 2016, I hope to have written a love letter for every single day. I’m so excited to end each day with positive vibes towards another human being, I truly believe this goal will benefit me more than anyone else. And if letter writing is also one of your goals, you can print out the card I used here for free and Malissa has created NINE more beautiful patterned cards that are perfect for any occasion! How are your goals coming along? Any new ones you’ve added to the list since Jan 1?
