I wanted to throw in one more quick little Valentine idea in case you’re running really last minute and need a quick fix! I mentioned the other day how I still have tons of 90’s lyric ideas but I decided for this last one, to pay homage to my first ever guilty pleasure pop icon, miss Kelly Clarkson.
Ok, I know that maybe some of the song lyric Valentines we’ve already shared this year, you might consider guilty pleasures. But, for me, they definitely do not fit in to that category! When I was a kid I felt SO COOL listening to Salt N’ Pepa and Britney Spears and you know what? I still do…
But, when I got into high school I hit this major hipster phase in which I “hated” anything popular, especially in the music industry. Except Kelly. I just always really loved Kelly. She has the catchiest tunes (Well, and Katy Perry..) and I just couldn’t help but belt them all out. But I didn’t really admit that to anyone but Malissa…
Then, one day a group of our friends and our brother Steven went to see a movie. This was in 2006 I believe…I remember we saw the sequal to Zorro, I make it a point to not remember what it was called because it literally was the world’s worst movie (also Premonition blows). But, as we were driving home we were having so much fun blasting music and discussing the terribleness we just watched. And then Kelly came on. I don’t even remember what song it was…probably Since U Been Gone…and we all, one by one, admitted how secretly in love with Kelly we were.
I know this sounds so super silly but like I had really cool friends ok? We just didn’t jam with the radio! Haha, no really for some reason we all just said we’d felt kind of embarrassed about it and then died of happiness when every person in the car was like, “No. She’s the bomb.”
And then we all belted out with the radio super loudly and it was the best.
- Materials
- Free printables
- Scissors
- Suckers
- Glue
1. Grab the free printables below and print them out. Cut around each one and gather some suckers.
2. Apply a little glue to the back of the edge where there’s not writing.
3. Stick a sucker stick on it and roll the paper around the back, attaching it around the stick and to the back of the printable.
The great thing about these Valentine treats is that they work with literally any sucker! There are so many cute options around this holiday, lips, hearts, these lollipops (which I found in the Wilton baking section at Walmart), etc. So grab anything that speaks to you and throw these together in about 5 minutes! Perfect for your last minute party, your neighbors (ok, I’d die of happiness if I had a neighbor that brought over Valentines!), your grown up friends who you weren’t planning on giving Valentine’s to but then decided it’s the best idea ever and they’d love you forever, your parents. Really, these aren’t super lovey like a lot of Valentines so they totally work for friends and co-workers, church, whatever!
I hope you guys all love Kelly as much as we finally admitted we did :) she really is kind of a musical genius and definitely the best thing that ever came out of American Idol, right?? Happy love day, ya’ll! xo
