Raise your hand if you’re ready for a super easy coffee table DIY! This honestly took me 45 minutes including drying time, it was amazing. And the white table totally brightens up my living room (remember I had this coffee table before?). I’ve been changing up some of my living room decor and my previous table just no longer matched and this one fits much better. It also has a slight mid-century feel which is always a plus if you ask me.
- Materials
- IKEA table top //
- 4 15 1/2′ inch table legs //
- 4 angle top plates //
- Drill //
- Gold or copper spray paint //
- Painter’s tape
1. Tape half of each leg off with painter’s tape like below.
2. Spray paint the legs and let the paint dry.
3. Take off the tape.
4. Take each of the leg plates and position them in the corners like below. This will make it so the legs stick out which you want.
5. Drill the plates in (they come with screws!).
6. Twist the legs in.
Here is an up close of the legs, you can’t see the gold too well (I should have picked a different shade of gold or done copper) but I still love them.
The white really opens up the room. I sort of wish the legs stuck out a little more so the mid-century feel was more dramatic but all the same the table cost around $50 so not too shabby! Also, I think I need fresh flowers adorning my new coffee table every single day.
Can you PLEASE tell me where that couch and throw blanket are from?! I am in love!
Thank you!
Hi Melina! The couch is from Haverty’s (I got it over 3 years ago though so I am not sure if they still carry it) and the throw blanket is from West Elm!
Love the table! Is it sturdy?
Thanks Eryn! It is super sturdy! I’ve been able to out basically whatever I want on it and it has held up great!!!
I am so excited I found this DIY! I have an ikea table top from about 10 years ago. It’s egg shaped and super cute. I am currently using it as a desk, but re-purposing it into a coffee table seems like a way better idea :-)
Thanks Katie! Yes, it sounds like it would be perfect as a coffee table!!
Hi! I love this idea! Where did you get that rug from?!
Thank you Naomi! The rug is from World Market!
I just bought the table top from ikea and I’m wanting to make this, but I bought 16 inch legs instead of 15 1/2 inch. Do you think it will make a big difference?
Not at all! 16 inch should be perfect!
