And my next lemon DIY is another simple way to dress up straws! We’ve made these twice before (with just the balloons and as pumpkins!) so it was only a matter of time before these reappeared on our site. We truly believe in reusing simple ideas for new purposes.
Ever since I started my whole30 (I know, I cannot believe it either. Machelle did it before and loved it so I finally gave in. Luckily, she is doing it with me as well.) I have been buying a lot more lemons and limes. Mainly just because I am cooking more, probably not necessarily part of the whole30. But this also means I cannot have lemonade because that almost always has sugar in it and whole30 discourages you from drinking juice in general. So, please go and enjoy a nice cold glass of lemonade for me! And add these lemon balloons to the drink for fun.
- Materials
- Yellow water balloons //
- Straws //
- Green paper //
- Scissors //
- Glue or tape //
- Ballooon pump (optional, just makes it easier!)
1. Blow up your water balloon.
2. Tie it around a straw like so:
3. Cut out a leaf shape from any green paper and glue it on the top:
These come together so, so fast which I love. And most all kids love balloons so this could make for a fun little afternoon craft activity with your kids. And then you have a built in snack – lemonade and cookies (or celery, carrots, etc. if you want to be healthy).
