Ok so my house is by no means amazing but I thought I would share some pics of it in it’s current state. Greg and I rent a cute little townhouse and it is very important for me to feel at home where I live- regardless of ownership type. And hopefully some of what I have done can inspire you renters out there! While I don’t love everything about our space, I have tried to make it unique within the confines available to me. And we have been able to paint in our rental which has made a huge difference! Thanks landlord!
Entryway
First up, our little entryway! I painted bright blue horizontal stripes on about a third of the wall and then did a simple black and white collage:
Details: frames – Ikea, Target and TJ Maxx, rug – West Elm.
Guest Bath
This was the hardest to get good photos of because of 1) lighting – there is no natural light and 2) space. But I love the chevron wall (which I free-handed so it is not perfect by any means) and the little details:
Details: ornate frame – painted Ikea frame with wrapping paper from Paper Source inside, the metal basket – Crate and Barrel, the mirror – at our place already and the cute soap – World Market.
Kitchen
Our kitchen was recently remodeled by our landlord which was amazing. While I didn’t get to choose the design, it is great to have a nice new kitchen to cook in (ok I don’t really cook. But Greg does).
Details: tea towel – Anthropologie, canisters – Target and World Market.
Entryway Table/Dining Area
We have this little wall enclave that I always wanted a long table to fit into and I finally made one (check our the DIY). Next to it we have our dining table in an area that feeds into the living room.
Details: table – World Market, chairs -Target, number wall art – DIY, dotted painting DIY, pendant light – Crate and Barrel, mirror – Hobby Lobby, copper basket – H&M.
Living Room
It is really just an open room I have tried to divide into dining/living room areas but let’s call it a living room!
Details: lamp (DIY- tutorial coming soon), large gray vase – Crate and Barrel, clock- Anthropologie, gold and silver frames – West Elm, ottoman/coffee table – DIY, rhine head – Z Gallerie, bookcases – Ikea, couch – Havertys, pillows – Target, Ikea, and DIY, wood letters – DIY, candlesticks and candles – Target, white frame – Ikea, deer head – DIY, M and G letters – World Market, geometric painting – DIY, Circle photo painting – DIY,
As you can see, we unfortunately do not have that great of lighting in our place (only two small windows really). That and having carpet instead of wood flooring are probably my biggest complaints. I do love our place even though looking at these photos made me want to redecorate for some reason.
I’ve also always been so conflicted about window treatments – I can never find ones that I love for some reason. If you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments!
I’m so happy I saw this post so I can see your adorable house, Malissa! I love it! Also I instantly recognized the Anthropologie clock because I discovered one while shopping for my friend’s bridal shower and I wanted to keep for myself. Maybe one day I can see this all in person :)
Aww thanks Leah!! I adore that clock so so much!!! It is amazing. I would love it if you could come visit sometime! It feels less likely now though but one day you’ll visit one of my places of residence I am sure! :)
