What better day to share the colorful photos from my recent Puerto Vallarta, Mexico trip than Cinco de Mayo? I couldn’t have planned it better myself :)
Seriously, there is so so much to love about Mexico but if I had to narrow it down to one thing, I’d say its gotta be all the color! Almost all the walls are at least half painted in vibrant hues of yellow, turquoise, pink, etc. Here in Utah, you really have to search and document where all the colorful walls are if you want to use them for photo backdrops or what have you, but in Mexico, every corner you turn, theres a colorful backdrop right there!
It’s hard not to want to just take pictures while you’re roaming the streets, especially in a place that has such a laid back, shopping feel and is right on the ocean, like downtown Puerto Vallarta. Even my husband was happy wandering up and down all the streets (and taking pictures!!).
We didn’t spend a whole lot of time downtown, and we didn’t eat any meals at any local joints there, so I have very little in the way of recommendations of things to do, see or eat in the city. I really just wanted to share some happy, colorful photos and say how much I enjoyed our time there on this Cinco de Mayo. So click through if you’d like to see more!
My husband and I are so lucky that we’ve gotten to go to Mexico the last two years, all expenses paid. (I shared our Cabo San Lucas trip last year and I just noticed I also posted that on Cinco de Mayo so I guess I was just as clever last year haha!)
Well, maybe luck doesn’t have so much to do with it as my husband works his butt off and his awesome company rewards him! It IS pretty lucky though that he got on with a company that offers such a perk AND that he happened to find his calling in life so young. That calling would be sales and I think it is one of the most impressive things for someone to be able to do well, because it is not a trait I possess!
This year, we stayed in an adult only resort, the Fiesta Americana Grand, that was practically brand new, and so SO beautiful! The interior design was spot on, the workers were extremely friendly, and they had fun events and activities every single night. After my first experience with an all inclusive resort last year, I have to say that I think it is THE way to go when traveling! Especially to beachy locations where the only plan on the agenda is to just relax!
And that is exactly what we did! We did nothing exciting this year, no jet skiing or paragliding or anything and it was perfect. We’ve both just been SO exhausted lately that a relaxing few days away was exactly what we needed. I let myself fall asleep whenever the mood struck which means I took at least one nap a day! Doesn’t that just sound like perfection!? I wish I could do that every day! :D
I have to say that compared to Cabo San Lucas, I loved the downtown of Puerto Vallarta a lot more. The shops and available souvenirs were so much better and more fun. Although I did miss the sandy beaches of Cabo, we still had the sound of the ocean waves right outside our window, and right up to the pool, and so that was good enough for us! Hope you enjoy these photos! Are you planning any Mexico getaways any time soon? I know there are some AMAZING excursions in Puerto Vallarta too so be sure to look up zip-lining and the private beach where you can hold monkeys and snakes and stuff!
Looks beautiful. Those are fantastic pictures.
