It is absolutely essential to have a place to house your keys! We usually keep ours in a little owl dish in the kitchen but I wanted someplace to hang our keys so I made this holder in an afternoon. I like the plain wood and how simple it is but am also considering adding more color- like a few geometric shapes in coral and mint, what do you think?
- Materials
- Wood dowel //
- Drill //
- Ceiling hooks //
- Rope or twine //
- Nail //
- Saw
1. Measure how long you want the key holder to be and cut along the line.
2 Next, mark where you want the hooks to be (I just did 3).
3. Use your drill to drill little holes for the hooks. I used an 1/8 drill bit for this step.
4. Screw in the ceiling hooks in the holes.
5. Tie rope along each end of the dowel. You will want to do the left side and then eyeball how much rope you want depending on how long you want it to hang and then tie the rope on the right side.
6. Hammer a nail in and hang the middle of the rope from the nail.
[…] Another very simple project requires a wood dowel, a drill, ceiling hooks and rope or twine. First you measure and cut the dowel. Then you mark where you want the hooks to be. Drill little holes in those spots and screw in the hooks. Tie rope to each end of the dowel and hang the key holder on the wall with a small nail. {found on ajoyfulriot}. […]
