How was everyone’s 4th of July weekend?! Ours was fantastic! We tried our best to take advantage of the 3 day weekend and went hiking, kayaking, berry picking, and of course saw fireworks! One of the best things about living in DC is sitting on the National Mall on the night of the 4th and seeing the fireworks right above the Washington Monument. And this year was crazy because it was in the 80s and very low humidity. That seriously is like a miracle.
The Potomac was just full of boats. Look how packed it was. DC is pretty insane on the fourth of July but it is worth the crowds.
Kayaking on the Potomac is one of our summer favorites and kayaking on the holiday did not disappoint.
Since moving here we’ve wanted to hike on the Appalachian trail so we finally did it. We hiked for several hours right outside of Greenbrier State Park {which is quickly becoming one of our favorite places}.
And for the second time this summer we made a trip to Homestead Farms! I’m not going to lie- we didn’t last too long outside picking blueberries and cherries but for about an hour it is a blast!
I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and celebrated with friends and loved ones! We would have loved to make it back to Utah or Idaho and spent time with family but had a great time just us two. What did you do to celebrate our Independence? Share in the comments!!
