DIY Mint Green Christmas Tree {Spray Painted Tree}

November 19, 2015 ·

I have the best news ever. Are you ready? Are you sure you’re ready? Ok, I think you guys can handle this…here it goes:

You can spray paint an artificial Christmas tree. Yeah. Like really, you can.

Remember how every time you’re in the Christmas section at the store and you’re like “wow that silver tree is really cool and unique but it’s only 2 feet tall and it kind of just looks like tacky tinsel forming a sparse tree….Gee I wish I could have unique colored christmas tree that was also pretty and normal sized…” Well the Christmas fairy has spread her wings and landed here in front of you to say that YOU CAN!

Not so many years ago, about the only good colors of spray paint available were navy blue and red. As far as I’m concerned, navy blue could have died with the 90’s and nobody would’ve noticed or cared. Ok, I have a few navy blue shirts I guess but navy blue decor, no. I’ll regret saying this someday, I always come around to things…

Anyway, the point is that now there are sooo many amazing colors of spray paint available! Even just 4 years ago, I remember the best option being a raspberry pink and just 2 years ago, for my baby shower, it was really hard to find coral and impossible to find mint. But not anymore! Now the shelves of home improvement stores are brimming with fabulous colors, from ballet pink, to lavender, to 5 shades of teal and yes, even mint green is there. It’s a maker’s dream come true and last year I thought “I bet you can spray paint a fake tree…” and then I tried it and it worked and its what my dreams are made of!!

At first I felt like mint wasn’t far enough from the Christmas norm, I mean, it’s still green. And with all the colors available! You could have a copper tree! A yellow tree! And even a glitter tree! (glitter spray paint is THE ONLY WAY TO GLITTER). But, as soon as I started, my heart felt warm and happy. I mean, loooook at this:

Can you even?! I don’t like to compliment my own stuff too much but like, this is welcoming, cute, and unique without screaming in your face for attention and making you question whether or not it’s really christmasy at all. I just love it. I expect lots of compliments on it this year…
