I just started working on decorating our bedroom. It’s always been the last on my list of decorating because #1, it’s the least seen by everybody else and #2, I already have this Anthropologie inspired bedspread I made and a few furniture items I love so it feels done up enough to keep me pretty happy.
Recently, however, I’ve felt a resurgence in desire to get this room even more put together and feeling like our space so I’ve begun adding a few elements and will be working on a couple more projects all through this week.
I love the look of hanging mirrors, they add a little something more special than just a framed or plain mirror and yet they’re still modern and simple. And a few years ago I bought all these hexagon shaped ones from Hobby Lobby for another decor project I was working on that I decided not to do. They’re return policy (at least at the time, I don’t know about now, I no longer shop there) was terrible and not long after purchasing them, for whatever reason, I couldn’t return them. Things like that always bum me out, when I’m stuck with a bunch of an item I no longer want and it especially bothered me that 3 years later I’d still never figured out a way to incorporate them into any of my decor. What a waste!
Finally I felt inspired to create my own version of these mirrors right when I saw them because I already had the mirrors just sitting there!
- Materials
- Mirrors //
- Painters tape //
- Gold spray paint //
- Chain //
- Bolt cutters or strong wire cutters //
- E6000 glue or gorilla glue //
- Triangle hangers
1.Attach your triangle hangers with strong glue (E-6000 or Gorilla Glue) and allow to fully dry (8-12 hours).
2. I got the chain at Home Depot. They were black and I spray painted them gold. Cut them to 15″ with your wire or bolt cutters.
3. To attach the chain to the hangers I actually cut a tiny opening into the end chain links.
4. Tape around the part you want to paint, I did the beveled edges and covered the center with paper.
5. spray paint. Remove tape and hang!
I glued little amethyst crystal bits to the tips of my screws just for added beauty, this is totally optional!
I’m excited to share more DIYs from my bedroom makeover and the rest of my house! I find that I’m including a whole lot of gold throughout the whole thing..what’s your go-to decorating color?!
really, really cute! So lovely!
