Quickly jazz up some simple napkin rings with gorgeous gemstones like geodes, crystal or amethyst and a little gold paint!
Last year, I found these napkin rings at a restaurant supply store by my house for 25 cents each! I just knew I’d have a use for them someday and I’m actually surprised it took me so long to come up with one. I guess I just don’t use napkin rings all that often!
But I finally found the perfect opportunity, which there is a little sneak peak of here! I will share the whole party at the beginning of September. Until then I’ll share a few DIYs that I used in that final event. Starting with this easy and pretty gemstone napkin ring upgrade!
Materials
- Stones (geodes or any small, pretty stone) //
- Gold craft paint //
- Paintbrush //
- Superglue //
- Napkin rings
I found similar napkin rings here for a good price! But any simple ring would do. Even check out some of the DIY options on pinterest and make your own rings to embellish with pretty stones. Which would be a super easy and equally cheap option! I also saw some plastic ones at Dollar Tree that you could jazz up a little and make a decent base out of.
I always find my stones in museum gift shops :) they can also be found online for sure but I love to pick them out myself in person! Check out any natural history museums in your area for great stone options.
1. Paint the back of your stones if they have a stone backing (like geodes and amethyst do). I used geodes and crystal rocks but there are so many stone options that I think would look beautiful! The crystals I just painted all over and then rubbed off a little with a paper towel. I tried not to rub off the corners/edges so they were more gold.
2. Once dry, attach to your napkin rings with superglue. If you feel like they need more security, squeeze some gorilla glue or e6000 between the stone and the ring as well and allow to dry. You can also just use hot glue but its just not as sturdy and the stones are likely to break off.
That’s it! 2 steps..its almost embarrassing. Except its wonderful! Easy projects are the best right? I’m excited to put this event together and share the rest of it with you. We have some more fun and easy crafty projects as well as a yummy and pretty dessert so stay tuned!
