For once in my life, my Halloween costume is done before Halloween Eve! I am always so pumped right after Halloween to get a jumpstart on next years costume so I don’t have to be so stressed and rushed. But, somehow, that never happens! Except this year. I knew months ago I wanted to be a disco ball.
Last year I made FOUR new Halloween costumes (A sugar cookie, a lion, a party hat and vintage Princess Lolly) but the one I ended up being (the lion) was still not finished until the night I needed to wear it out! Well, my determination this year to finish a costume with time to spare finally paid off with a complete costume done the second week of September! Woot woot!
I saw a couple tutorials this year for being a disco ball but they all involved wearing a big sphere around your midsection. Who on earth wants to do that!?! I want to be able to sit, fit through doors and, just in general, be comfortable on Halloween. So my take on this costume is much more glamorous, way easier and not at all awkward. I made a disco ball-adorned headband by gluing mini balls, I got at Zurchers, to a plain headband. I also found a disco ball necklace at Zurchers, glitter eye cream and silver glitter nail polish at Dollar Tree, silver eye liner at Target and awesome silver glitter shoes at the thrift store. I was planning on just spray painting some shoes silver so if you can’t find any, that route totally works for a Halloween costume!
I found my dress at a vintage clothing store in downtown SLC called Decades but I have seen plenty of sequin dresses online (check H&M, Amazon and Ebay). If its a cold halloween, throw on some silver or gray tights and a blazer and you’ll still look the glittery part!
My husband wants to be the DJ Kavinsky (just cus he wants the cool letterman jacket) for Halloween so I think a disco ball goes well with that! For now, I don’t have a matching costume planned for Stella but we’ll see! (Tune in next Monday to see what I do have planned for her!)
