And we’re jumping right in to Christmas here at AJR! Honestly I’m surprised we didn’t do it earlier but this year has been a little weird with Malissa and I being in the spirit to begin our holiday decorating and crafting. We’re typically day-after-Halloween gals and while I definitely listened to some music {it’s my guilty pleasure!} that early on, I’m just now getting the decorations out and lights up. I think it’s mostly because I just moved in and have been in that mess the last month. Now I want to re-design much of the house so it’s hard to want to fill it with seasonal items that will need to be moved to do so. So I think this year I’ll keep it all fairly minimal, which my husband will appreciate.
One thing I absolutely did want right away was an advent calendar. All of my siblings always got our own chocolate one every year growing up and I loved that tradition. Even if chocolate wasn’t included, it’s just fun to wake up every day and see that you’re one day closer to the best day of the year. I want that tradition for Stella and when I saw these individual cupcake boxes at the restaurant supply store down my street I knew they’d be perfect for it. Little boxes that fall right open to reveal treats and presents and stacking them in to a tree shape provided a cute pink tree for her room! I LOVE IT!
I love that half of them have the little window so I can put ornaments in them which enhances the tree effect. And I love that the ones without windows make it so exciting for the little one to open everyday. Its a tiny Christmas present surprise every single day of the month! I want that!
- Materials
- Individual cupcake boxes //
- Glue //
- Countdown stickers //
- Gifts, treats, ornaments, toys, etc to fill boxes //
- Star topper //
I found my boxes at a restaurant supply store, I have seen similar ones at craft stores or in the Wilton sections at stores. I found these similar ones online without looking too hard, I’m sure there are many more options.
Fold up all your boxes and arrange them in to a tree shape. Attach the countdown stickers, available by clicking here:
Apply glue (I just used school glue) to the bottom of each and press it down. I filled my boxes before applying glue but doing it after is also a good idea, whatever works!
I found this perfect sparkly silver star at Family Dollar and attached it to the top middle box with hot glue.
I can’t wait till Stella is old enough to understand this concept and Christmas! For now she sure loves staring at those lights and that makes me happy enough!
Let my favorite countdown begin!
[…] Of course we can to kick the list off with our own contribution, this stacked tree made from pink cupcake/treat boxes! Print off the free stickers, fill each one with a present and you’re done! Find the tutorial right here. […]
