Since until recently I had been out of the blogging game for awhile I have not really had my pulse on the latest trends. But I have been seeing a good amount of daisies showing up on my Instagram feed and love them! So I think they are trendy? Even if not they are just the perfect feel-good flower to brighten my days right now. I am betting a lot of you still need a little pick-me-up! I know I do.
Donut Color Sorting
Practice colors using these cute donut prints!
Ok, so these are not edible donuts because that would just be too tempting to eat and would probably lead to a sugary mess! In fact, I tried color sorting with fruit loops a month ago and it was fun but most of them just went into my son’s mouth.
These cute donut prints are in a variety of colors to help with learning colors! We still have a ways to go on perfecting our colors but I am trying to incorporate activities related to colors into every week and am pointing colors out when we go on walks (which is a lot right now!).
Toilet Paper Roll Flamingo
Make a cute flamingo using a toilet paper roll and free printable!
I have been limiting trips to the store and am trying to buy less online since a lot of items are either out of stock or have longer shipping times. So, I have been challenging myself to create crafts and projects using what I already have. Which is not that much since I’ve thrown most of my stash away to make room for baby items. But one item I’ve been saving a lot of are toilet paper rolls! Toilet paper has been a hot commodity the last few months but luckily we have always had a decent supply and I’ve been saving rolls for projects with my son.
After I made the toilet paper roll narwhal I’ve been thinking of a ton of other animals to make with a paper roll. This flamingo is so fun and easy! If you don’t have a printer or are out of ink, simply draw a wing, head, and tail to glue on!
Paper Plate Pool Floats
Start the summer vibes early with these DIY paper plate pool floats! Free printables for swans, flamingos, parrots, toucans and rainbow unicorns included!
So I know that the adorable animal pool floats came out and had their hay-day a few years back. But they are still around and popular as ever. And we are still obsessed with them!
If you are wondering what else you can make at home without having to go to the store or do another pick-up order these are a simple plate craft! I am very into making things with paper plates because they are cheap, versatile, and make for a great quarantine craft with kids.
Balloon Lion
This is another fun quarantine craft for kids! It would be perfect for a day spent talking about animals. I’ve definitely stopped being strict with a schedule or keeping with a theme all week long now that we are on week seven of being home. But I still think having a theme for a whole day or afternoon helps focus craft time and learning!
Also, adding a balloon to any craft makes it feel a little extra festive. Plus, if you are running out of space to house all the kid crafts you have been making this has the bonus of being a bit temporary and only lasting two days or so.
