A Joyful Riot

A Large Gathering of Happy Things

Simple Gift/Favor Box

May 26, 2014 ·

I really think I’m just in love with these berry boxes! Who couldn’t be really? And using them to house a gift is just delightful!

Stuff boxes with tissue paper and fill with any trinkets/gifts you’d like!

These boxes feature handmade chocolate sugar scrub, a burt’s bees chapstick, two ferrero rocher chocolates and a scroll from World Market to write a little note on. I used a cute cupcake liner on the jars.

Provide them for guests to grab as a party favor or give as gifts for any occasion!

Instagram Polaroid Blocks

May 15, 2014 ·

For this project I combined instagrams with the trademark look of a polaroid. This is a great project to bring your instagram pictures into your home for everyone to enjoy or just to display any pictures at all!

The first thing you’ll want to do is decide which pictures you’d like to display and how many. I choose to do 36 photos. Either get your photos from your Instagram profile or crop any picture you want into a square. I found that ordering my pics on 5″ x 7″ prints was the most inexpensive way to go. This template is that size:

I modified this tutorial from this excellent project here. I’ve been wanting to try this for awhile and finally did! This is such an easy way to really take your party or event up a notch. Napkins are a small detail, but to me the small details make a huge difference!

DIY Vintage Silhouette Plates

April 22, 2014 ·

gramophone2 I love the look of these plates! Leaving a little silhouette lets the vintage print show through and turns it into a unique piece of art! gramophone3

    Materials

  • Primer & spray paint in your choice of color. I used Krylon primer and enamel paint in Ocean Breeze //
  • Stickers or sticker paper

Here’s all you need to do:

Print any shape you so desire onto sticker paper, here are a few you can choose from:

Just click and copy or save the one/s you want.

Cut the shape out and stick to your plate on top of a part of the print you’d like to still show through after. Then prime and paint your plate using spray paint. Let the paint dry for at least 24 hours before removing your sticker. If any of the paint has seeped through the edges, you can use the tip of a toothpick the clean it up.

Now hang your artwork using a plate hanger (you can purchase at any super store or arts and craft store) or display it in a small easel.
