Animal Cookie Banana Pudding

Animal Cookie Banana Pudding

Have you ever been to Magnolia Bakery in NYC? The first time I went I just had a cupcake and was not super impressed. It was good but not amazing. But the second time I went I got their banana pudding and it is to die for. So yummy. I’ve been wanting to try to make it at home for a while and finally found a recipe that looked really good.

This recipe is adapted from that and I also subbed the vanilla wafers out with animal cookies. The non-circus kind – which I hardly ever buy because the frosted ones are just so good. But I thought these would be fun to try and they made a good substitution! They get softer in almost the same way vanilla wafers do and just make the dessert a little extra fun for kids.

And I can say that Pierce liked it a lot! He even came in mid-shoot and snuck a taste!

Chocolate Orange Chocolate Chip Cookies | Pinhole Press Holiday Cookie Bake Off

November 27, 2018 ·

A holiday favorite candy gets baked into soft and delicious cookies, with a special ingredient (orange olive oil) to make them extra Christmas-y! Chocolate orange chocolate chip cookies will be a new tradition.

Honestly, with the way the last month has gone, I wasn’t sure we’d get any Christmas posts up this year! My family was hit with a few sicknesses (we’re battling a new round again right now!) and we also got to go out of the country for a whole week! It’s been crazy. With all the craziness that already is the holiday season, I had sort of written off all of my fun blog ideas this year. And I seriously had some good ones :( But I just had to make time for this one because not only is it super delicious and festive, it’s also part of a contest in which YOU could win $1000 in amazing prizes!

Did that catch your attention?! It should of, cus this is seriously fun! We’ve teamed up with a bunch of awesome bloggers, and Pinhole Press, to bring you a Holiday Cookie Bake Off! You can read all about it on the Pinhole Press blog and there’s even a fun short video.

The short story is, you can follow our Pinterest board of amazing cookie recipes, try any of them out and upload a picture of your cookies under the “tried it” section of the pin. Every photo gets an entry into the contest and the chance to win the amazing grand prize!

Now, I cannot wait to try out some of the fabulous recipes on the board which includes favorites like spritz cookies (a staple in our holiday baking) and soft sugar cookies, to cookie butter and caramel sandwich cookies (yum!) and lots of candy cane goodies! For our recipe, I decided to go to one of my favorite Christmas candies for inspiration! Don’t you just love those fun and delicious chocolate oranges?! It was one of the candies we got every single year in our stockings and I absolutely have to enjoy at least one a year still!

You obviously cannot go wrong with chocolate chip cookies either and this year I’ve discovered a delicious little trick when making them! Have you seen those flavored olive oils at farmer’s markets or olive oil stores and wondered what you would even do with orange olive oil? Well you can actually replace some of the butter or vegetable oil in any baked good recipe and have a scrumptious spin on your usual desserts! It’s especially yummy when chocolate is involved!Continue Reading

Party Starters! How to Throw a Movie Night Party!

January 3, 2018 ·

This movie night party rivals the red carpet with DIY free printable flair pins, an easy glittery star marquee light, and three amazing popcorn mix recipes to share!

We saved the last of our Party Starters! videos for last: this colorful and fun movie night party is our favorite one of them all!

We’ve all seen countless movie night inspired parties and popcorn bars in our time (and on Pinterest :D) but we have to say we love how ours turned out. Rather than just gold, red, and black we incorporated fun colors like turquoise, pink, mint, and blue. You may have noticed throughout our Party Starters themes, pink somehow made it into all of them haha! Pink is a very versatile color you know! Or if you didn’t know that, now you do :) We really love how it made each party have its own unique palette and fun vibe.

Check out our other Party Starters posts here: donut party, sprinkle themed party, and pizza party!

Throw a super colorful and fun movie night party for the whole family!

The movie night party was the first party we shot on our second day of shooting. The whole video with all of the projects can be found right here. The movie ticket backdrop was probably the most stand-out part and it made the whole corner ready to party! This isn’t a DIY in the video-its just super simple: hang colored tickets (we got ours at Zurchers) with tape from the ceiling to create a colorful background for your popcorn bar!

Here’s a fun behind-the-scenes look at some of the shooting crew and our set up:

Party Starters! How to Throw a Sprinkle Party!

August 29, 2017 ·

Sprinkles, sprinkles, and more sprinkles! With a decked-out ice cream bar, homemade sprinkle recipe (and free printable labels!), and a sprinkle-covered letter backdrop, this party is sweet all over!

Is there anything cuter than sprinkles?! Like, in the world of party supplies at least. You just cannot go wrong with a smattering of sprinkles! So we were totally on board when food.com wanted this to be a theme for one of our Party Starters videos.

Even better-we didn’t just cover everything in sprinkles, but we had a full-on ice cream sundae bar! And it was basically the ice cream bar of your dreams let me tell you! We seriously had all the fixin’s you could ever want on your ice cream: syrups, mini candies, crushed cookies, cherries, and of course SPRINKLES!

While prepping for this shoot, I basically bought every variety of sprinkles I came across. How could I not?! Jumbo sprinkles, colored sugar, rainbow chips, nonpareils, we had it all! But, my personal favorite definitely had to be the homemade sprinkles we made ourselves! Did you know you can make sprinkles!? I love the idea of whipping up a custom mix for a party. Kinda like a signature cocktail, but a signature sprinkle mix :D
