Birthday Party Memory Books with Mixbook | Free Pages!

June 15, 2017 ·

Document those parties you work so hard on with photo memory books. Free printable birthday interview and handprint pages

I’m really excited about this post today! Not only because it’s super fun and comes with a bunch of free printables (!!) but because preparing for it made me get some of my much-needed scrapbooking done! I have the best goals and I even start books from time to time but in general, I get about 1 done a year when I’d like to do 5!

Now, when I say scrapbooking–that doesn’t mean lots of time, or fancy papers, stickers, or even glue! It means, uploading all my favorite pictures to Mixbook, placing them on some cute pages and hitting order. Though I highly value DIYing any and all things, scrapbooking in the traditional sense has simply just never appealed to me. It takes so much time! And money! And organization! And messes! Even if I wanted to, I just know it’s something I would never actually complete. I highly value making and keeping memories, but all the time and money just does not appeal to me. So photo books are basically the best thing to ever happen to me!

I love Mixbook’s photo book interface. It’s so easy to use, change, and edit. They also have thousands of styles, backgrounds, stickers, patterns, etc so you can make the best photo book ever-for any occasion!

One of the yearly scrapbooks I always plan to order is of my children’s birthdays, specifically the party! So much work and effort goes into creating parties for our littles, I think they deserve to be memorialized! I certainly don’t ever want to forget all the little details. So, I decided to team up with Mixbook to bring you a fun idea for using their photo books-party memory books! A whole photo scrapbook dedicated to the fun and themed parties we throw!

What was so fun about this project was that, although I’ve wanted to do it ever since my daughter’s first party (the circus animal cookie theme bash you can see here), I only just now got around to doing it. So there actually were tons of little details I’d already forgotten! So many sweet memories we captured of my daughter that we didn’t document or share here because this isn’t a family journal. And because of that, I’d forgotten some of the cute and sweet quirks my little one year old (who is now three!) did at that time. It was so sweet to go back through every single picture and remember those moments.

DIY Copper and Pine Mobile

January 5, 2017 ·

Well hello! If you were wondering if we were still alive worry no longer! We are alive and well we just took a sort of unplanned and extended break from the blog. A few family things happened and work got crazy + vacation and holiday travel. Combined, all of this left both Machelle and I with less time to sit down and compose posts and the blog unfortunately fell by the wayside.

With all that said we had a wonderful holiday and break. I was able to both travel over Thanksgiving to Bangkok, Myanmar and Seoul and then less than three weeks later head home to Utah to spend some much needed time with family. The trip was amazing and will try and share more photos soon but for now let me just say GO TO BAGAN, MYANMAR. DO IT NOW. Of course, that is only if you are able to do so – I know that travel is a huge luxury and one of the things I am most grateful for looking back on 2016 is that I have blessed great opportunities to travel. It is one of my passions and loves of life and I realize I am so blessed to be able to do it.

Now we want to do a post sort of wrapping up the past year but I had created this mobile before I left for Utah and wasn’t going to share it since we were past the holiday season. However, I came home and as I took down my decorations I was filled with immediate despair at the impending January and lack of holidays and decorations. And I decided that you in fact can keep some holiday decor up in the month. Especially if it is natural and non-specific to any holiday like this mobile. January is still filled with evergreens but no big event. So let’s not deprive ourselves of low-key pine decorations!

Plus, this project would also be a perfect backdrop to a dinner or party treat table anytime in the next two months.

Read on for the quick tutorial!

Simple & Cheap Stud Earring Holders

November 14, 2016 ·

Easiest stud earring holders ever that put your jewelry on display without having to remove the backs! | A Joyful Riot

I moved into my house 9 months ago and I only just got my jewelry unpacked last month :| It always seems like there’s a few boxes of random stuff that takes that long to finally get settled…at least in my moves anyway. And my accessories are always one of them. For some reason all those little knick knacks just seem so overwhelming to put away. Somehow, no matter how carefully I think I pack the box (ok, lets be real, I probably threw the jewelry haphazardly in with something else on the morning of the move) all my necklaces seem to get tangled and the earrings go everywhere!

So it seems to take months and then one cleaning day I get really into organizing and decide to tackle my baubles. This time when I did though, I realized I was in dire need of some new jewelry organizers. About 5 years ago, I thought up a simple solution to hold all my stud earrings and IT HAS BEEN MY FAVORITE. Not only does it keep me from loosing half of every pair of earrings I own, but it keeps them super organized and easily accessible. And probably the best part? You don’t have to remove the backings every time you put the earrings away!

You just stick your pair right into the foam where they stay, intact, upright, and on display. I love it. If my earring holder were any more complicated, I would never use it. But this takes as long as throwing them into an open box. And, for forgetful people like me, this makes it so I don’t have to remember all my earrings. I can easily see all my options when I’m getting ready!
