DIY Mini Desk Marquee Light | Blogger Swap

September 9, 2015 ·

DIY mini marquee light for your desk! | A Joyful Riot

Today is National Swap Idea Day! Didn’t you know that?? :D Well we knew and we decided to commemorate it by throwing together a blogger swap with some of our favorite DIY girls from around the web. Amazing right!?

Well since we got to come up with a fun project, send it to a blogger we highly admire AND we received a fantastic project to keep and display on our desks, we sure think it’s pretty amazing!

This is only the first in what we hope to become a quarterly blogger swapping collaboration! Each swap will feature a theme and for our first one we chose desk accessories/office supplies and organizing tools. I may have been leaning towards that because I felt like my desk really needed some accessories and organizing help. Call it manipulative but I DON’T CARE because I got the most perfect thing back from Christina of Christina Williams Blog and it has completed my desk, nay I say my life!

Isn’t this desk caddy so nifty?! I love how each little glass fits perfectly in it’s spot and is filled with cute and necessary items and I OBVIOUSLY love the mint color, it’s perfect for my space! Can you believe I had no push pins?? Seriously! I didn’t own one and I often need them so I couldn’t be happier that I now have so many! I think a cork board DIY may be in my near future..

I love Christina’s project, I love that I get to keep it and I love all the other amazing projects the other bloggers came up with! Head on over here to get Christina’s DIY and then visit the rest of these awesome ladies projects and follow along with their blogs and instagrams, you will NOT regret it!

Sara from Tell Love and Party made these cutie flamingo push pins
Miranda from One Little Minute Blog whipped up this amazing plant and pencil holder
And the Sorelle sisters made these fab black and white coasters

My project may not be as useful as the one I received but I just hope Sara didn’t need any push pins! haha! I think this little marquee light came out super cute and, for me, it’s important to have whimsical pieces around my work area that keep me motivated and inspired so I hope Sara gets that out of this piece.

Floral Quote Globe | Anthropologie Hack

September 6, 2015 ·

floralglobe6 copy
So after eyeing this gorgeous globe for over a year I finally decided to create my own version! I have seen a few DIY options for some of the 1canoe2 globes but most of them were of the stars globe (which is perfect for a nursery!) or were not the look I was going for. Plus, unfortunately you can no longer buy these globes at Anthropologie so I set to make my own.

Whenever I do anything with florals I immediately think of Rifle Paper Co. I seriously cannot get over how gorgeous their stuff is. I have a Rifle Paper Co. phone case and admire it all day long. Ha! At first I thought of trying to paint florals that were inspired by Rifle Paper Co. but I had some gift wrap already in my craft room and decided that decoupage could turn out lovely! And I am so happy I did it this way. I am not a great painter so this was way more fool-proof, plus the florals are not just Rifle Paper Co. inspired, they are Rifle Paper Co.!

And this globe is going to have a great home in Ellie’s floral adventure room! It also cost about $35 and the original was about $150 I think.

Sweet and colorful fruit balloon straws for your summer parties! Lemons, limes, pineapples, strawberries, cherries, peach, orange, grapes, blueberries! via A Joyful Riot-3

A couple weeks ago Malissa made the cutest little lemon balloon straws and of course I fell in love with them! And so I thought, “all the fruits would look cute on straws in balloons! And they’d look especially cute altogether!” And boy do I love this colorful bouquet of fruity straws!

They make your drinks so happy and festive! They’re the perfect compliment to summer parties, don’t they just brighten up a table??

I love them all colorfully together but maybe just one of these fruits fit your event and that would look cute too, a whole bunch of balloon cherries or peaches all lined up in glasses together! Oh it’s just so happy! Go head, whip one up real quick just to brighten your lunch today! They really are a breeze and I’m pretty sure your juice will automatically taste better just by using these to drink it :)

DIY Baby and Toddler Harem Pants with Free Pattern

May 18, 2015 ·

Free pattern for simple baby harem pants via A Joyful Riot

I love tutorials where I get to showcase my baby’s bum! haha! But really, it’s so cute right?

I also love harem pants so I’ve been whipping some up for Stella using some fun prints like these ones. A soft jersey or organic cotton works best because theres a little stretch to them but a variety of fabrics will work and this pattern (available from newborn to 3T sizes) really is so simple! Just a few seams and you’re done! Trust me, even if you’re uncomfortable in front of a sewing machine, you can do this! Beginners feel no fear!

**UPDATE** I revisited this post here, providing all new patterns for those who have had problems with these ones! I also updated the patterns on this post so you can grab them both places and they should work much better! :)

Mid-century DIY Coffee Table

March 25, 2015 ·

coffeetable15coffeetable6

Raise your hand if you’re ready for a super easy coffee table DIY! This honestly took me 45 minutes including drying time, it was amazing. And the white table totally brightens up my living room (remember I had this coffee table before?). I’ve been changing up some of my living room decor and my previous table just no longer matched and this one fits much better. It also has a slight mid-century feel which is always a plus if you ask me.
