Bring ever-popular marble detailing to your pumpkins this year by painting on the signature blurred veining with a feather. So chic, they can be kept out for months after Halloween.
While most of our Halloween and pumpkin crafts, this year especially, have been colorful and whimsical, these pumpkins channel a more chic route. We definitely have a love of marble here at AJR, especially faux marble, and after working it into so much of my home (like my kitchen backsplash), I decided it’d be nice to have some matching Halloween decor.
But, the really great thing about these pumpkins is that they’re more of a general fall decor item, and not really specific to Halloween. They’re not spooky or even silly, like so much of Halloween is. They’re just pretty. And pretty pumpkins can stay out until you’re ready to put Christmas up. (Which we think should be as early as the day after Halloween). And can be put out before you’re even ready to get Halloween out. Generally I don’t like to get my stuff out until after our Birthday, which is the end of September. But, these guys I set out a few weeks ago and they fit right in to the cooling season.
I really wanted to channel the look of real marble slabs with these pumpkins and I think they came pretty close! By utilizing a feather for most of the painting, I could the veining and blurring just right. I also decided to go with craft pumpkins so that these would last year after year. The process was not terribly tedious but it wasn’t something I would want to throw away in a couple months either!
