Egg Carton Birthday Party Invitation

September 22, 2014 ·

3IMG_0567Oh boy, our birthday is only one week away! We’re having so much fun counting down the days with these birthday-inspired posts and I’m really excited about all the fun ones we have this week for you!

For today’s post, we have these delightful birthday invitations! How absolutely fun would it be to receive a birthday party invitation that’s almost like a present itself? I don’t think a single one of your invited guests could miss out on a party that had this fun of an invitation, just imagine the party to follow!

    Materials

  • Paper pulp egg cartons //
  • Acrylic paints //
  • Invitation printables //
  • Carton fillings (water balloons, party poppers, party blowouts, candy, confetti //
  • Balloons //

IMG_0411 copyI used 6 count egg cartons but I’m thinking you could probably use a normal dozen one and cut it in half {or give a larger, more awesome invite!}. Using acrylic paints, paint your cartons. I gave each two coats.

2You can download the invitations that I used by clicking on the following link, I left the inside blank so you can write on your own details or load it in to a photo editing program and add them there.

download-buttonpinkPrint out onto normal copy paper, cut out and using any kind of glue attach the “you’re invited” print to the top of your carton and the detail-filled one on the inside. Fill your cartons with any goodies you’d like!

IMG_0417 copyIMG_0429 copyI filled mine with confetti that I got from the inside of a party popper, mini water balloons that I used a hand pump to just slightly pump up, some candy, gum balls, mini party blowouts and party poppers wrapped in birthday labels.

IMG_0443 copyFill matching balloons with helium and then use paint markers to write the invitee’s names on the balloons. Tie the balloons to your cartons by slipping through the holes on the top of the carton.

IMG_0462 copyIMG_0464Now your invites are ready to be dropped off at all your friend’s homes! Leave them by the door or mailbox and allow your friends to be utterly delighted upon finding it!

IMG_0568IMG_0590This idea could easily be used for party favors as well. Just create new prints to adhere thanking your guests for attending and then fill with appropriate gifts! You could even house your gift to the person being celebrated at any party in these cartons. A fun way to recycle and so personalizable! Pure delight is sure to ensue from the receiver.

Birthday Cookie Balloon Placecards

September 18, 2014 ·

9Ever since I discovered that a hand held pump can easily blow up a water balloon, I want to put these tiny little guys on everything! This place card is really simple and will make your table somewhere everyone will want to sit! Mainly because of the tiny balloon, not the cookie, right?

2

    Materials

  • 8 inch lollipop sticks //
  • Hot glue gun //
  • Name banners //
  • Cookies //
  • Water balloons //
  • Balloon pump

You can download a bunch of colorful banners that I made here. Either load them into a photo editing program and type your names on or print them out and write them on.

Blow up your balloons, cut out your names and then use a hot glue gun to attach the names to your sticks and the balloons to the very tip of the sticks. Stick them in a cookie and you’re done!

Couple them with Malissa’s cute napkin rings and you have the makings of a perfect birthday setting!

    Materials

  • Birthday Candles //
  • Wrapping Paper //
  • Glue (I used epoxy E-6000 and a glue stick) //
  • Toilet paper roll //

Handheld Birthday Mini Piñatas

September 16, 2014 ·

IMG_0250There is no way anyone in the whole world doesn’t love piñatas. Something covered in colorful fringe that’s literally bursting with treats and toys, you just can’t not love that!

These mini ones are, dare I say, even a little more delightful. They’re personal sized so they’re perfect for party favors and 100% of your guests can leave happy that they were the one to break open the piñata instead of disappointed that they had to watch someone else do it because each of these guys break open right in your hands!

IMG_0208

    Materials

  • Thin cardboard like cereal boxes //
  • Tissue or crepe paper //
  • Seam ripper //
  • Tape //
  • Scissors
  • Glue Stick //
  • Treats, toys, etc

The shapes you can choose to do are endless but for this tutorial I went with number candles and a little gift box. You can download a template for these thick numbers and the flame shape below:

download-buttonnp
Trace your numbers onto thin cardboard, cereal boxes work perfectly, and cut them out. the sides and bottom of the box are the perfect size to use for the sides of your piñatas. Choose somewhere about the middle of your numbers to do your perforation. Using something small and sharp (I used a seam ripper) poke little holes in a line across your top and bottom shapes. Match the sides up to the fronts and figure out where the perforation should go to match up, then poke those holes. Tape the sides onto one number.

2Fill your little piñatas with all sorts of goodies!

IMG_0068Attach the other number to close up your piñata. Remember not to apply tape over where your perforations meet. Then cut some fringe out of tissue or crepe paper and beginning at the bottom glue the fringe on layering them on top of one another, each a little higher. Trim around when done.

3IMG_0236For the flames, I just cut the shape on to normal thickness cardboard, layered on yellow tissue paper and then hot glued them on to the tops of the numbers.

IMG_0230IMG_0239Instruct your guests to hold them on each side and then bend downward, they should rip right open along your perforation to reveal the wonderment within!
