I am sure you guessed that this can’t be real marble seeing as it was only $15! But it looks almost as nice, right? The fireplace in our rental is really dark- dark wood plus black slate and I wish so badly I could just paint it white and replace the slate. But I’m not so sure that would go over well with our landlord so this temporary solution will do for now.
- Materials
- Marble contact paper //
- Scissors
The best part is how simple this is! Just take the contact paper, measure the fireplace siding, cut and place on top! Just go slowly and press firmly on top of the paper to decrease any bubbles.
I’m not entirely sold on keeping this for too long but for now it is a fun little addition to our living room. And it may grow on me even more!
I would be afraid the heat from fireplace will make the paper turn lose. Then what a mess you will have. Why not faux paint it to look like marble. It is easy and cheap too.Loads of how to on doing it. Just my thought.
Love the thought! Since I have a rental I cannot paint the fireplace, although I am sure that would turn out pretty! And as for the paper turning loose, that is a possibility but I feel pretty good about it not happening since 1) in the past I have had contact paper right next to an oven and it never turned loose and 2) we rarely ever actually use our fireplace.
